For the greatest impact, materials can be mixed. As in the top photo, routed aluminum can be affixed to a black PVC backer. The lower example shows that dimensional letters can be combined with an acrylic, aluminum or steel base. Aluminum stand-offs can be used to attach the sign to the wall, adding depth and further enhancing the overall effect. There are many, many options to consider.
